Pat Cummins leadership role in IPL Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad of the Indian Premier League announced on Monday that Pat Cummins, the Australian player, will captain the team in the next Twenty20 tournament. Last year, the 30-year-old led Australia to victories in the World Cup and World Test Championship.
However, the Indian Premier League (IPL) begins on March 22, and this will be Cummins' first season as captain. He is all set to replace Aiden Markram from South Africa.

The announcement was made by the team leadership on X, previously Twitter. David Warner led the team to victory in 2016 and expects Cummins to take charge this year. A record-breaking IPL auction in Dubai last year saw Hyderabad pay 205 million INR ($2.5 million) for the services of fast bowler Cummins. To kick off their 2024 campaign, Hyderabad will face Kolkata at Eden Gardens on March 23. Hyderabad finished last in the 10-team league last year.
